XG90 Functional Trainer with Counter-Balanced Smith Machine Dual 90kg Stacks · 35 Positions · 2-User Power Rack · 3" × 3" Commercial Frame | Machine Only

The XG90 Functional Trainer with Counter-Balanced Smith Machine is a commercial-grade all-in-one strength station built from 3" × 3" uprights in 11-gauge stainless steel and 12-gauge structural steel. It integrates a counter-balanced Smith machine rated to 498.9kg, dual 90kg pin-loaded cable stacks across 35 laser-cut height positions and a 2-user power rack frame — all in one heavy-duty footprint. Machine weight is 634.4kg, making it one of the most substantial all-in-one stations available in Australia.

This is the machine-only version. It includes a cable attachment starter set (D-handles, tricep rope, row triangle, ankle strap and chain). J-hooks, spotter arms, the pull-up bar, lat seat and all other rack hardware are sold separately as attachments — allowing you to build out your station progressively without paying for items you already own or may not yet need.

If you want everything included from day one — J-hooks, spotter arms, chin-up handle, plate holders, storage board and the full bar and cable attachment pack — see the XG90 All-In-One version instead.

Cable and Pulley System — How It Works

The XG90 uses CNC aluminium pulleys and a dual cable ratio system that pairs the correct mechanical advantage to each exercise type. Total cable travel distance is 215.9cm (85 in) — covering the full range from low floor pulls to high overhead movements. Loading the machine correctly from day one requires understanding which ratio applies to each exercise.

2:1 Ratio — DAP Functional Exercises Used for cable crossovers, lateral raises, curls, rows and most accessory cable work. The resistance felt at the handle is half the loaded stack weight. 40kg on the stack = 20kg felt resistance at the handle — smooth and controlled for isolation work.
1:1 Ratio — Lat Pulldown Used for lat pulldowns (with a lat pulldown bar, sold separately). Full loaded stack weight delivered directly at the bar — appropriate for heavier pulling work where direct resistance matters.
35 Positions — 26mm Holes on 50mm Spacing Laser-engraved positions 1 through 35. 26mm (1 in) holes on 50mm (2 in) spacing — compatible with standard 3" × 3" rack attachments. Precise angle setting for any exercise from floor level to overhead.
Counter-Balanced Smith Bar — 498.9kg Capacity Hard-chrome guide rods with counterbalance system. Static capacity 498.9kg (1,100 lbs). Lighter effective bar weight than non-counterbalanced systems. Contact our team to confirm exact effective starting resistance for percentage-based programming.

Build Your Station

XG90 Attachments — Sold Separately

The XG90 is a modular platform. Every attachment below bolts to the same frame so you can build out your station progressively without adding floor space. Start with the machine and the included starter cable set, then add the hardware your programming requires.

Popular upgrade paths: add safety spotter arms and J-hooks to unlock full barbell rack capability at 453kg rated capacity. Pair the lat seat for a dedicated back station. Add the pull-up bar (160kg rated) for overhead bodyweight work. Add the cable attachment pack for bars, lat pulldown bar and extended grip options. Browse the full attachment range to complete your setup.

  • On display at our Milperra Sydney showroom
✗ Cons
  • J-hooks, spotter arms, pull-up bar and lat seat are all sold separately — budget for attachments before ordering if barbell rack work is a priority
  • Only a cable starter set included — cable bars and a lat pulldown bar require the separate cable attachment pack
  • Large footprint — 204cm wide × 185cm deep. Measure your space carefully before ordering

Who Is This Best For

The Right Machine For

  • Buyers who already own cable attachments or rack hardware If you have J-hooks, spotter arms, cable bars or a pull-up bar from a previous setup, the machine-only version avoids duplication and reduces your total cost.
  • PT studios wanting a modular build-out Start with the machine and the included cable starter set, then add J-hooks, spotter arms and a lat seat as your client programming and budget allows — without replacing the machine.
  • Commercial gyms and school facilities Commercial-grade 3" × 3" frame with a 10-year structural warranty. The machine-only version is suited to facilities sourcing their own attachment hardware through existing supply channels.
  • Serious home gym owners building progressively Get the machine running on day one with the included cable starter set, then add rack hardware and cable bars over time as your training evolves.
  • Strength and hypertrophy athletes Counter-balanced Smith rated to 498.9kg for heavy compound work. Dual 90kg cable stacks for full accessory volume. Add J-hooks and spotter arms to complete the rack capability.
  • Rehabilitation and sport performance settings The counter-balanced Smith reduces effective bar load for rehab work. 35 cable positions allow precise loading angles. The included D-handles and ankle strap cover most unilateral and lower body cable rehab movements from day one.
Who should not buy the XG90 machine-only version? If you are starting from scratch with no existing rack hardware or cable attachments, the XG90 All-In-One version includes everything — J-hooks, spotter arms, chin-up handle, plate holders, storage board and the full bar and cable attachment pack — and will likely be better value once total cost is compared. If your ceiling is below 2.4m or floor space is under the recommended 3.5m × 3.5m, the XG90 will not fit comfortably. At 634.4kg, confirm delivery access before ordering. If your programme requires a non-counterbalanced Smith bar with a known fixed starting weight, contact us before purchasing to confirm the XG90's system meets your loading requirements.

Why machine-only makes sense if you already have attachments. Buying the all-in-one when you already own J-hooks, a pull-up bar or a full cable attachment set means paying twice for hardware you do not need. The machine-only XG90 gives you the same 3" × 3" commercial frame, the same 498.9kg-rated Smith machine, the same dual 90kg stacks across 35 positions and the same 10-year commercial warranty — and your existing attachments will fit the 26mm holes on 50mm spacing. Contact our team to confirm compatibility before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions About the XG90

The XG90 machine-only version includes the complete machine frame (counter-balanced Smith bar, dual 90kg cable stacks, 35-position uprights, weight plate pegs and anti-slip foot plate) plus a cable attachment starter set: 2 x D-handle stirrup handles, 1 x tricep rope, 1 x close-grip row triangle, 1 x ankle strap and 1 x chain. J-hooks, spotter arms, the pull-up bar, lat seat, cable bars, cable attachment storage board, barbell and weight plates are not included and are sold separately. Browse the full attachment range to plan your build-out.
The frame, cable stacks and Smith machine are identical across both versions. The All-In-One adds: J-hooks (pair), spotter arms (pair), chin-up handle, weight plate holders, cable attachment storage board, straight bar (1115mm), cambered bar (1150mm), grip frame (480mm), aluminium lat pulldown bar (Ø32 × 1225mm), additional handles, and a full cable attachment set. The machine-only version includes only the cable starter set (D-handles, tricep rope, row triangle, ankle strap and chain). If you already own rack hardware or cable attachments, the machine-only version avoids duplication. If you are starting from scratch, the All-In-One is typically better value once total cost is compared.
To use the XG90 for barbell rack work you will need to purchase J-hooks (for barbell position) and safety spotter arms (for safe unassisted lifting) separately. Both are available in our attachment range. The J-hooks and spotter arms are rated to 453kg static (1,000 lbs) when fitted. You will also need a compatible Olympic barbell and weight plates, which are not included. Contact us on 1300 247 888 and we can advise on attachment compatibility and put together a complete package.
A counter-balanced Smith machine uses a counterweight to offset the bar's physical weight, making the effective starting resistance lighter than on a non-counterbalanced system. The XG90's Smith bar travels on solid hard-chrome guide rods and is rated to a static capacity of 498.9kg (1,100 lbs). The counter-balanced system is beneficial for beginners, rehabilitation protocols and controlled tempo work, while still supporting heavy compound loading for advanced athletes. If your programme uses percentage-based loading that requires a precise known bar weight, contact us before ordering to confirm the effective starting resistance.
The XG90 uses two cable ratios matched to exercise type. The 2:1 ratio on functional trainer movements means the resistance felt at the handle is half the set stack weight — 40kg on the stack = 20kg felt at the handle. The 1:1 ratio for lat pulldowns delivers the full stack weight directly at the bar. Total cable travel distance is 215.9cm (85 in), covering the complete range from low floor pulls to high overhead cable movements.
Yes. The XG90 frame has upright positions at both the front and rear to support J-hooks and spotter arms simultaneously, allowing two athletes to perform barbell rack work independently. Note that J-hooks and spotter arms are sold separately. The dual 90kg cable stacks also operate independently, so one user can train cables while another uses the rack or Smith machine.
The XG90 measures 204cm wide, 185cm deep and 220cm tall and weighs 634.4kg. A minimum 2.4m ceiling height and a 3.5m × 3.5m floor area are recommended. Standard Australian 2.4m residential ceilings are sufficient at the machine's 220cm height, but confirm there are no ceiling fans, overhead light fittings or structural beams in the way. The 185cm depth is substantial — measure front to back carefully. Also confirm delivery access for the 670kg shipping weight before ordering.
Under commercial use: 10-year structural frame (coating excluded), 1 year on guide rods, cables and pulleys, 90 days on grips and upholstery. Under home or light commercial use: 12-month frame return to base (coating excluded), 6-month cables and pulleys, 3-month upholstery. Labour is excluded under both tiers. Contact us to confirm which tier applies to your facility type before purchasing.
Yes, for home gym owners with adequate space and ceiling clearance. The machine requires a minimum 2.4m ceiling and a recommended 3.5m × 3.5m floor area. For home use, the machine-only version makes sense if you already own J-hooks, a pull-up bar or cable attachments. If you are starting fresh, compare the machine-only total cost (machine plus the attachments you will need) against the All-In-One version to see which represents better value for your situation.
Yes. The XG90 is built to commercial specification — 3" × 3" uprights in 11-gauge stainless steel and 12-gauge structural steel with a 10-year structural frame warranty under commercial use. The Smith machine is rated to 498.9kg and the rack positions accept J-hooks and spotter arms rated to 453kg. The machine-only version suits commercial buyers sourcing their own attachment hardware through existing supply channels. Contact us for commercial pricing and delivery.

You can test the Smith bar, pull cables across all 35 positions and discuss attachment compatibility and build-out options with our team in person.
Yes, for Sydney Metro customers. After placing your order, contact our team to book an installation slot. The XG90 will be fully assembled at your location, ready to train on the same day. View installation rates. For customers outside Sydney Metro, the machine ships with assembly instructions and hardware. Regional installation enquiries are welcome.
The XG90 uses 26mm (1 in) holes on 50mm (2 in) spacing on 3" × 3" uprights — the industry-standard specification for commercial rack attachments. Most J-hooks, spotter arms and accessories designed for 3" × 3" racks with 1 in holes on 2 in spacing will be compatible. Contact us on 1300 247 888 with your existing attachment brand and model before ordering and we will confirm compatibility.
Commercial-grade rubber gym matting is recommended under and around the XG90. A minimum 15mm thickness suits most home gym environments. For PT studios and commercial floors, 17mm or greater is preferable. Rubber flooring protects the subfloor, reduces vibration and provides a stable non-slip surface under a machine that weighs 634.4kg. Browse our rubber gym flooring range for compatible options.
